Trying to study

Ginny walked to library, to get some books. She went her favorite section and pulled out a random book. The book was on charms, which was interesting in her opinion. She sat down on a table and began to read.

Lyra was wandering the library aimlessly, not knowing what she should do. Sighing, she pulled out a book on Potions which looked interesting. And one on CoMC too. Looking around for a seat, she saw Ginny sitting by herself at a table. "Hey," she said, going over. "Mind if I join you?"

Ginny had been reading on the Aberforth Dumbledore's Goat Charm. She couldn't practice this charm, since you needed a goat. She finished reading about that charm, and turned the page. The Anti-Alohomora charm seemed simple enough. She read more on it and was startled when Lyra came. "Not at all." She said. She noticed Lyra had a Potion and CoMC book in her hands.

Lyra caught a glimpse of what Ginny was reading. "Anti-Alohomora Charm? Trying to keep someone out? Or just curiosity?" she said, sitting down and smiling. She opened her Potions book randomly, it opened on... a love potion. Sighing, she closed the book and opened it again, this time it opened on a Wit-Sharpening Potion. "This one looks nice..." she muttered.

"No. I was just reading random charms." She said. She noticed that when Lyra opened her Potion book, the page went to a love potion. Then, she changed it to the Wit Sharpening Potion. She smiled. Love Potions, she knew, were hard to make, and they got stronger each day. "Why didn't you read the Love Potion page?" She asked Lyra. "You could have made one and saved it for one of your future crushes." She said. She knew she would have done that. You never know when you might need it.

"Nah, I don't like them, and you'd have to keep making them when they wear off. I don't think making someone love me that way is good. They might suddenly come to their senses and run off," said Lyra, wrinkling her nose slightly. "I'd have to track him down and make him take it again... Horrifying." She didn't really believe in them, she was a little too practical.

Ginny nods. "True." She said.

Lyra sighed and started taking notes on the potion. Staring at the book, she suddenly remembered something. "Ginny, why don't we look for a charm to keep Peeves away? Then you won't be late to class because of him again," she said, her eyes glinting with mischief.

Ginny nods. "But first, I want to read something." She said. She got up and grabbed a history book off one of the shelves. She opened it to the contents, and then flipped to the Peeves page. "Peeves is a Poltergeist at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, since c. 993." She muttered, reading the book. "Fond of mischief and chaos, he is a constant pain to the school and its inhabitants, especially Argus Filch, the caretaker, as the only one's to control him are the Bloody Baron and Albus Dumbledore." She continued. She read silently and found another piece of information. "Look at this." She said to Lyra. "In 1876, caretaker Rancorous Carpe devised an "elaborate trap" in an effort to remove Peeves from the Castle. The trap was comprised of a bait of assortment of weapons and a vast enchanted bell jar, reinforced by various Containment Charms, which he intended to drop over the poltergeist once he was in place. This did not go as planned, as Peeves easily broke through the bell jar and was left armed with several cutlasses, crossbows, a blunderbuss and a miniature cannon. The Castle had to be evacuated for three days as Peeves amused himself by firing randomly and threatening the students with death." She stated.

" So we know Containment Charms don't work, and not to let him near weapons," Lyra said. "Should we just concentrate on charms to make sure he won't come near us?" She smiled briefly on hearing the caretaker's attempt to remove Peeves. The thought of Peeves running around with weapons was both funny and scary. Especially the miniature cannon.

Ginny nodded. Poor students. she thought. Who knew Peeves could threaten to kill people? She could not imagine. "Well, we could do a Disillusionment Charm? And then act like the Bloody Baron or someone else that Peeves obeys." She suggested.

"That'd work too, but I was thinking that we need something to use in case he sneaks up on us. A Disillusionment Charm wouldn't work if he was watching us cast it," Lyra said, nodding. "How about we make him unable to talk? He'd be preoccupied finding a way to get his voice back. I think the Tongue-Tying Curse would do the trick, but I'm not sure if spells work on him," she said with a slight frown.

Ginny thought for a moment. "I think the spell will work on him," She said. "Since he is a solid object, it ought to work." She added.

"Hmm we should try it out some day," Lyra said. "Next time we bump into him be ready!" she says with a wink.

Ginny smiled. "Unless, he reads minds and steals our wands first."
